I know that I love doing that, especially on a warm night like tonight. Well, I saw something that I've had my eye on for the longest time, an imprint in the concrete at the end of the drive.

However, lighting conditions were not at all optimal, so I had to improvise. Also, I loved the color that the overhead street lamp was giving off (an orange color, very warm) so I chose to set the camera on the ground, set the shutter speed to about 6 or 8 seconds (NOT 1/6 or 1/8, no sir, these are whole seconds, try holding still that long...not possible.) and opened up the appereture wide. After a couple of test shots, I was quite pleased with the result. Now you can obviously tell that its an imprint, but the lighting doesn't really just give away the fact that it was almost ten o'clock at night.

Technology Era

In today's world, what does one see everywhere you could possibly turn? It’s quite obvious that today we live in a technology based world, but I do have a question for the techno-geeks and the cyber freaks. What if, for instance, this technology turned on us? What would happen to us if we found ourselves amidst a disaster where we couldn't have access to computers, files saved to hard drives, intranets, or even worse, the internet?

Quite simply put, I believe we'd be up a creek. On top of that, I believe that is an understatement. We as humans become very dependant very quickly on the things which we create; we become reliant on the things we can imagine. For instance I work for a cellular provider, and when the hurricane entitled Katrina struck the southern coast of Mississippi and Louisiana, our servers went down. For three weeks we had to do everything manually. It seemed like a time warp because we even had to pull out the credit card swipers and actually call in the numbers to get approval codes. That was a month like no other.

But in so saying, I am not accusing everyone else of being too reliant. I am not going to be the first to cast the stones. I also have become too readily reliant on these machines, and honestly, if they ever do malfunction, I will be up a creek with the rest of the world.

A Certain Ambiance

Some things go without saying. Some things just are. Wheter we as humans reconize the fact that things can be without explination or not, well, that's just our fault. For instance, I've noticed that candles tend to give a room a specific ambiance; they give an atomosphere to a room like no other light source could possibly even attempt. That is why I love the light from candles. Anyway, I do not have any models right now to take pictures of, so I figure, why not post pictures of nature. I do promise though that the next post will not be a post of trees. Even if I have to take a picture of the ground [which seems to be an interesting idea]. Oh well, today has been a cloudy day (which is great for portraiture, just so you know) and I decided to get out on campus and take some pictures. I think that these are actually pretty neat. Some are old (they've been cropped) and I will indicate them and the conditions which they were taken.

Hint of Red.

I'm seeing Red.

Changing colors

My desktop background (with black screen)
Taken about a week ago. They were always filled with warmth, excitement, and lots and lots of food. However, some things just stick out in my mind as being reminders of the holiday season. For some reason, sented candles, tablecloths, Christmas trees, and Christmas tree lights all remind me of the holiday season. I think that family is definatly the most important part of the holidays, but what do I know?

Anyway, I was browsing around one of my cousin's attic the other day (I know, that sounds odd, but what can I say?) and what did I come across? Not a lot, to be honest, but I did manage to get a bunch of neat shots. I have finally purchased a digital SLR camera; I purchased a Nikon D50. Anyway, I've gotten bored in my dorm room, and I remebered the constant drip that I hear at nights. It actually drives me up the wall, if you can imagine. So I took my camera out friday and shot a few pics of it. This has to be the best of them though.

Drip.

What should I do?

T.
